Cheap flights from Iran

Once a powerful country known as Persia, tourists venturing to this part of Southwest Asia will find plenty of attractions. It may not look it due to its seemingly compressed form, but Iran is the 18th-largest country in the world. The land area consists of the Iranian Plateau, except the coasts of the Caspian Sea and Khuzestan Province. Mountains make up the most of its landscape, with rugged ranges that separate various basins, making the area excellent hiking territory.

Tourists visiting Iran will find a treasury of ancient sights, which put it out among the most marvelous landmarks in the region. Glimpsing the Persepolis, for instance, can make one feel awe at first sight with the weight of the centuries hanging in the atmosphere. Ancient landmarks, however, make up only a number of attractions in Iran, whose cities can fascinate one with its people both traditional and welcoming of new visitors.

Where to go

The Persepolis, a magnificent legacy of the ancient Achaemenid Empire is a fascinating sight to behold with all the monumental staircases, ornate reliefs and enormous gateways that demonstrate the grandeur that was this empire. Its downfall, however, seems to be violent and utterly uncaring due to the number of broken and fallen columns. The beauty of this World Heritage site, though, is not detracted, as the ruins add to its historic feel. Others who want to see more of this site can view the Apadana Palace and Staircase. The bas-reliefs along the northern wall depict the splendid furnishings which might have greeted the arrival of delegations off to meet with the king. Other sites can be found from here, making it intriguing to view the area in a guided tour.

As the center of Persian culture for more than 2,000 years, Shiraz is one of the attractions not to be missed here in Iran. It was one of the most important cities in the medieval Islamic world, functioning as the capital of the country between 1747 and 1779. The Aramgah-e Hafez is one of the highlights here, where tourists can visit the tomb of Hafez the poet who was loved well for his folk tales. There is also the Naranjestan & Khan-e Zinat ol-Molk, which feature rows and orange trees on a huge courtyard built for the powerful Mohammad Ali Khan Qavam al-Molk between 1879 and 1886.

Kuwait, usually an hour and a half away, is one of the underrated sights of the region. One will find here the capital, with sights such as Tareq Rajab Museum, housed in the basement of a large villa. One will find here inlaid musical instruments in glass cabinets, silver from Oman, and gold jewelry from Saudi. These only number among various other artifacts that visitors can marvel at. There is also the Kuwait Towers to check out, which are well known for their distinctive blue-green 'gems' and a two-level revolving observation deck. The lower globe, and the middle tower store a huge amount of water here, which makes it a grand yet useful structure in the often-parched city.

Those who want to take some respite from the heat can go all the way to Thailand, where Ko Samui is. The Bangkok flight may take around seven hours or so, with additional hour/s for the connecting flight, but the long trip can be worth it. One can go among different sights such as Ang Thong National Marine Park, which is made up of an archipelago of about 40 small islands, sheer limestone cliffs, hidden lagoons, and more. There is also the Chaweng to visit, the most popular spot in Ko Samui, where the sand feels almost like powder with clear waters.
