After taking on key roles at Microsoft, Amazon and Skype, Bryan joined Skyscanner in 2015, leading and growing every part of the business including the product, engineering, data science, design and infrastructure teams. He became CEO in 2018.

Ruth has a strong belief that 'great people make great products' so she and her teams focus on supporting and developing the 1,000+ amazing individuals who make up Skyscanner.

Chief Financial Officer

Before becoming CFO, Colin was the interim CEO of Skyscanner Japan (a joint venture with Yahoo! Japan) and worked on the financial side of Ctrip’s (now Group) acquisition of Skyscanner in 2016.

From airports to airlines, Hugh has spent more than 15 years working in the travel industry. He now leads global partnerships at Skyscanner.


VP of Product Management

Steven joined the team when Skyscanner acquired the Chinese travel company he founded, helping us grow our international presence. He focuses on developing new products and businesses for Skyscanner.


VP of Strategy

Filip has led several product areas within Skyscanner, ranging from our b2b supply-side products to advertising and hotels. He now spends his time thinking about where Skyscanner is going next – identifying new business opportunities and ways of growing.

Piero has made a career delivering world-class consumer products and has brought that same level of obsession to Skyscanner, helping us to be the travel company who put travellers first.

Rob is a highly experienced tech Chief Legal Officer and is responsible for our legal, regulatory and public affairs functions worldwide. And thanks to Skyscanner he can book trips to follow Arsenal wherever they're playing!

Our story so far


After registering the company in 2001, co-founder Gareth Williams launches Skyscanner from his spare bedroom. The following year our first office opens in Edinburgh.


We welcome £1.5m Series A funding from Scottish Equity Partners, with an extra £1m in 2008.


For the first time we have a million users in a single day.


The website launches in 30 languages globally.


With strong growth in Asia we open an office in Singapore and back in the UK we acquire travel start-up Zoombu. Meanwhile, the Skyscanner app launches.


Sequoia Capital invest in Skyscanner in the same year that we move beyond flights, acquiring Spanish hotel comparison business Fogg and launching car hire in app. We also open an office in Miami.


This is the year we focus on mobile, acquiring Distinction, an app development company based in Budapest, and launch hotel search in app. We start providing data insights to the travel industry with our new B2B platform. We also acquire Youbibi, a Chinese travel search site.


We open a new office in London and start a new venture in Asia, as we team up with Yahoo! Japan. We also become the first global travel metasearch to allow airlines to take direct bookings via a third party using New Distribution Capabilities.


The year starts with five new partners investing £128 million to support and accelerate our growth and ends with Skyscanner being acquired by Ctrip (now Group) in a deal valued at £1.4bn. It’s the largest travel tech acquisition Europe has ever seen.


We strengthen our reviews and recommendations by acquiring social content platform Twizoo.


Gareth becomes Chairperson, focusing on Skyscanner’s long-term vision. Our Chief Technology Officer, Bryan Dove, takes his place as CEO.


To help travellers book lower-emission flights, we introduce eco-labelling. It’s part of our wider mission to lead the global transformation to modern and sustainable travel. More than 100 million people now use Skyscanner every month.
