It is a monument that stands 105 meters tall and was built to represent a folktale about a mythical tree of life and a magic bird of happiness. Samruk, the bird, had laid its egg in the crevice between two branches of a poplar tree. The Bayterek also has an observation deck allowing visitors a panoramic view of the city.

Ascension Cathedral – Also known as Zenkov Cathedral, the Ascension Cathedral is a Russian Orthodox cathedral located in the city of Almaty. The cathedral has the distinction of being the second tallest wooden building in the world. The Ascension Cathedral is definitely must-see for tourists with its unique inner structure and colorful outer façade making it a very photogenic building.

Central State Museum of Kazakhstan – Located in the Almaty, the Central State Museum of Kazakhstan is the largest museum in the city and is also considered to be one of the largest museums in Central Asia. The museum is home to the most significant collection of Kazakh archaeological, historical and modern cultural artifacts.
