Scoot/Tigerair Cheap flights and Promo Fares

From July 25 2017, Scoot and Tigerair have merged and will operate under the Scoot brand name and with the airline code TR. Scoot is a budget airline based in Singapore, operating value-based cheap flights to over 35 regional destinations across China, India, and Southeast Asian countries from its main hub, Singapore Changi Airport. Launched in 2004, Tigerair operated as an independent airline until 2014 when it became a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines under the parent company SIA Group and was subsequently merged with Scoot in 2017.

Scoot prides itself to be the leading no-frills airline based in Singapore that offers excellent customer assistance and inexpensive travel choices. The airline also has the distinction of being the first Singaporean budget airline to operate flights that fly to Southern China including cities of Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Haikou. In 2016, Tigerair was awarded by AsiaOne People's Choice Awards as the Best Low-Cost Carrier and by South India Travel Awards as the Best Low-Cost Carrier – International.

Why Fly Scoot

Scoot is a low-cost airline that operates flights from the Philippines’s major airports – Luzon Clark International Airport, Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Mactan-Cebu International Airport, and the Kalibo International (Boracay) Airport. Some of the popular flights offered by the airline include flights to Hong Kong, Singapore, Shenzhen, Bali, Macau, Taipei, Ho Chi Minh City, Maléin Maldives and the recent addition of a flight to Athens in Greece.

The airline is also a member of Value Alliance, the largest low-cost carrier alliance in the world together with Cebu Pacific in the Philippines, Jeju Air in South Korea, Nok Air in Thailand and Vanilla Air in Japan.

Ways to Check-in

Scoot offers its passengers convenient ways to check-in for flights. Web check-in is available for most flights except for Yangon and Dhaka. Those with checked baggage can also check-in online but upon arrival at the airport, still proceed to the web check-in counter to drop your bags.

Mobile check-in is also available through the official Scoot mobile app. Passengers can check-in through the app which gives an electronic mobile boarding pass that will be stored in your own mobile device. The same with web check-in, those with checked baggage should proceed to the dedicated counter to drop their baggage.

Airport check-in counters are also still available for those who do not check-in online. The counters open two hours before and close 45 minutes before the stated departure time. It is best to arrive at least two hours before your flight departure to complete check-in and immigration procedures.

Scoot also offers the option of Early Check-In which allows passengers to check-in as early as 4am on the same day of the flight but no later than three hours before departure. If you arrive within three hours, proceed to normal check-in procedures. However, do note that this may only be available at certain airports so be sure to check with the airline beforehand.

Baggage Allowances and Fees

Scoot allows their passengers one pieces of cabin luggage not exceeding a maximum of 115 centimeters in dimension (54 cm length x 38 cm width x 23 cm depth) and 7 kilograms in weight. Any luggage found to be larger or heavier than indicated would need to be checked-in.

For checked baggage, passengers are given the option to purchase as much weight they deem necessary for travel with a maximum of 40 kilograms per passenger. The purchased weight can be spread across more than one luggage. However, do note that for safety reasons, no single bag should exceed more than 30 kilograms. Passengers under the same booking can also combine baggage allowance if checking in and boarding together on the flight.

Passengers can only pre-purchase checked baggage allowance up to four hours before departure. Any later, passengers can still purchase at the airport check-in counters but are limited to up to 15 kilograms and at the prevailing airport rate. Exceeding 15 kilograms will be subject to excess baggage fees.

Scoot is a low-cost carrier offering full economy class flights on most flights. Some routes have a business class cabin. Passengers who are traveling with family or with a group who wish to be seated together, or those who require more leg room or in front of the cabin for quicker boarding and deplaning can choose to select their seats during the booking process. Fees for each seat option will be charged each way per person. Seat selection charges will also vary based on flight routes which mean that the fee for a return flight may differ from that charged for the departing flight.

During booking, seat selection is automatically pre-selected for a small fee. So remember, for those who do not wish to pre-select their seats, be sure to skip this option and continue with no seat assignment. Seats will be assigned once checked-in for your flight.

In-flight Services

Scoot offers its passengers some in-flight refreshments that can be purchased for a free. Passengers can pre-purchase these meals during the booking process to enjoy up to 25% of savings compared to when purchasing onboard. Pre-purchasing meals would also give the added benefit of being served first and of not running out of that meal you had your eye on.

On some flights, passengers can also shop onboard the flight for duty-free items and ask the Scoot cabin crew for more information. Duty-free items include perfumes, beauty products, tech gadgets and some Scoot branded items.
