Nauru, officially the republic of Nauru and formerly known as Pleasant Island, is an island country situated in the Central Pacific, in Micronesia. It is the smallest state in the South Pacific as wells as the second smallest state in the world by population, after Vatican City. Nauru covers an area of 21 square kilometers and is home to more than 9,000 residents. The country experiences a hot and very humid climate year-round, due to its location near the equator and the ocean. Nauru’s de facto capital is Yaren.
Where to go
When in Nauru, one of the most visited tourist destinations is Anibare Bay, where the tropical beaches are located. Tourists can also see here the Anibare Harbour. Another notable wonder in Nauru is the Buada Lagoon, a tropical body of water that offers a very scenic spot in the lower middle of the island. Buada Lagoon is a freshwater lagoon that is surrounded by dense palm trees. In Yaren, there is the Parliament House to see, as well as some World War relics like the remains of Japanese guns, bunkers, and pillboxes. Popular activities within Nauru are game fishing and climbing Command Ridge, the highest point in the country. From Nauru, travelers can fly out of the country via Nauru International Airport and into Brisbane, Australia; Majuro, Marshall Islands; Nadi, Fiji; and Tarawa, Kiribati.

Travelers can fly to Brisbane via Brisbane Airport, and from there book flights to more destinations in the different parts of the world. Brisbane Airport has flights to Hong Kong, Taipei, Singapore, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai, via airlines such as Cathay Pacific, China Airlines, EVA Air, Etihad Airways, and Emirates, among others.

Nauru International Airport is the only airport that serves the country of Nauru. Only one airline operates here, which is Nauru Airlines, handling flights to Brisbane, Majuro, Nadi, and Tarawa.
