Luxembourg is officially named the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. It is a landlocked country located in Europe and shares a land border with Belgium, Germany and France. Luxembourg is composed of two principal regions – Oesling and Gutland. Oesling or Ösling covers the northern part of the country and is characterized by hills and large forests. While the region is sparsely populated, it is known for its picturesque hillside villages. Meanwhile, Gutland is a region that covers the southern and central part of Luxembourg. Unlike Oesling, Gutland is comparatively urbanized with a geography that is lower lying and flatter than Oesling.
