Oman Air is the national airline of Oman. Operating out of their headquarters in Muscat International Airport in Seeb, Muscat, Oman Air is a member of the Arab Air Carriers Organization and flies numerous domestic and international flight routes. Oman Air's frequent flier program is called the Sindbad Frequent Flyer club. It is owned by the Government of Oman and Oman Air flies to over 50 destinations with its 50 aircraft. Founded in 1993, Oman Air started by flying the popular route of Muscat to Dubai and has now expanded into routes that are popular globally like Muscat to London and Muscat to Bangkok. They fly a combination of Airbus A350 and Boeing 787 and are looking at further improving their international coverage.

Checking In

Oman Air offers two convenient ways to check-in for your flight. There is an Early Check-in facility at the Muscat International airport which allows you to check-in up to 8 hours before your flight. For group Early Check-in, all passengers must be physically present for boarding passes to be issued, but bags may be accepted early. Another convenient way of checking-in can be made through the airline's website, www.omanair.com. You can check-in online starting from 24 hours up to 90 minutes before the flight. You can later drop off your luggage at the dedicated Web-check-in counter at Muscat International Airport. For passengers checking-in at the airport, please allow at least 3 hours before scheduled time of departure to complete the check-in procedure and have your travel documents ready. The counters at the airport will close 60 minutes before the scheduled departure.

Frequent Flyer Program

Oman Air's Frequent Flyer Program is commonly referred to as the Sindbad Club. Launched in 2007, this program allows the airline to reward its most loyal customers. Arranged in 3 tiers of blue, silver and gold, this program is managed directly by Oman Air and is differentiated by tier miles earned in a calendar year. Recently, Oman Air has signed an agreement with Etihad Airways as well for partnership rewards.

Seating

Depending on the aircraft, flight duration, and destination, Oman Air offers three seating classes: First Class, Business Class, and Economy Class. The First Class cabins feature open suites with 25.5-inch wide lie-flat seats. The seats come with a built-in massage system, and the suites are equipped with a large 23-inch screen and a personal storage area. The Business Class also has spaciously arranged 22-inch wide lie-flat seats with an electrically controlled backrest, leg rest, and ample seat depth. Each seat has a cocktail table and a 17-inch screen. At a 34-inch pitch, Oman Air's Economy Class seats also offer travelers a comfortable flight.

In Flight Entertainment

F&B: In compliance with Islamic dietary laws, Halal Meals are served to all passengers on Oman Air flights. Special meals are also available by request. Alcoholic beverages are served on board only on international flights to non-Muslim customers except on Saudi Arabia and Iran-bound flights, in which alcohol is prohibited in both countries by Islamic law.

Entertainment: Complimentary in-flight entertainment is available for all cabin classes on Oman Air. All First Class passengers will enjoy free WiFi access. Other passengers can choose from several pricing packages to suit your WiFi requirements during the flight. Oman Air also has an in-flight magazine, Wings of Oman, for passenger’s reading pleasure. All seats are equipped with personal in-seat screens where a wide selection of Arabic and international movies, TV shows, music channels and interactive games are available.

Baggage Allowance

Oman Air offers a complimentary carry-on baggage allowance for all passengers. Those seated in First and Business Class can carry two bags per guest of 7 kilograms each. Economy Class passengers are entitled to bring on board one bag per guest of 7 kilograms. The free checked baggage allowance also depends on the cabin class and Sindbad membership status. Business and First Class passengers can check-in two bags with a combined weight of up to 50 kilograms. Sindbad Gold and Silver members will get an allowance of 50 kilograms for Economy Class and 60 kilograms for Business and First Class ticket holders. Economy Class passengers can check-in a maximum of two bags with a combined weight 30 kilograms for free. Other baggage privileges include an extra 20 kilograms for Omani Students studying abroad, Proof of study required, one extra piece with a maximum 10 kilograms’ weight for infants, and two bags of 23 kilograms for those traveling to North American destinations.
