TAROM, officially S.C. Compania Națională de Transporturi Aeriene Române TAROM S.A., is the flag carrier and oldest operating airline of Romania. TAROM is an acronym for Transporturile Aeriene Române, meaning Romanian Air Transport. Over 97.05% of the company is owned by the Romanian Government (Ministry of Transport). It was founded in 1920 as CFRNA, and began operations on 18 September 1954.

TAROM is based in Otopeni, and its headquarters and main hub is at Henri Coandă International Airport. Its focus cities are Cluj-Napoca International Airport, Iași International Airport, and Sibiu International Airport. The airport is the largest airline operating in Romania based on international destinations, international flights, and fleet size. It is the second largest in terms of passengers carried, following Wizz Air.

How to Check In

TAROM offers online check-in service for passengers to save time at the airport. This service will also allow passengers to choose their preferred seat in the aircraft. Online check-in is free of charge and can be done from the comfort of one's home or office. The service is available from 30 hours before the departure time and closes one hour before. All passengers in possession of an electronic ticket valid on eligible TAROM flights can check-in online. In order to do online check-in, the passenger will need to check their booking information and enter the electronic ticket number consisting of 13 or 14 digits. Select the flight number. All flight information will be displayed. The list of all passengers registered in the reservation will appear; select the passenger for which one wishes to perform the check-in formalities. Each passenger is assigned a seat by default, but seat selection can be done by clicking the "Change the seat" button on the website. Afterwards, print out two copies of the boarding pass, which will be brought at the airport for the flight.

Baggage Allowance & Fees

Checked free baggage allowance depends on the class of travel. For economy class: passengers occupying a seat and Frequent Flyer SkyTeam members can bring a maximum of one bag weighing no more than 23kg; Sailors, who have their own dedicated rates, can bring a maximum of two (2) standard pieces weighing no more than 23 kg each; and infants not occupying a seat is entitled to one (1) bag weighing no more than 10 kg and one collapsible stroller. For business class: passengers occupying a seat and Frequent Flyer SkyTeam members can bring a maximum of 3 bags weighing no more than 23kg each; Sailors who paid rates dedicated to sailors can bring a maximum of three (3) standard pieces weighing no more than 23 kg each; and infants not occupying a seat is entitled to one (1) bag weighing no more than 10 kg and one collapsible stroller. Please note that the free checked baggage allowance for an infant cannot be combined with the allowance for adults. The standard dimensions of baggage should total 158 cm or less.

Booking Fees

Payments accepted include by card (MasterCard, Visa, American Express) or by agency. The latter is only applicable for flights with departure schedules that are at least 72 hours.
