Bangkok Airways is a regional airline based in Thailand's capital city, Bangkok. The airline operates several flights to various destinations such as those in Thailand, Cambodia, China, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Singapore and much more. Its main hub is located at the Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport. With a fleet of 34 aircraft, it operates to over 25 destinations and prides itself to be known as ‘Asia's Boutique Airline'.

Founded in 1968, this almost half a century old airline currently does not offer flights from Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport. Most of its destinations are located in Thailand with a few in India, Laos, Vietnam and those mentioned above.

Ways To Check-In

Bangkok Airways offers its passengers several ways to check in for your flight. To save time, it is recommended to use the airline’s Web Check-in service which is available 24 hours to at least an hour before your scheduled flight departure time. It is simple and easy to use, simply visit the official Bangkok Airways’ website and look for the Web Check-in. Search for your booking, select your preferred seat and print two copies of boarding passes.

For all passengers with or without checked baggage, it is recommended to arrive at least two to three hours before departure time. Proceed to the dedicated internet check-in counter airport to have your documents verified before going through the security checkpoint. Those traveling with baggage will need to drop off their bags at the counter.

Mobile check-in is also available 24 hours before departure, as is doing it manually at the airport.

Baggage Allowance & Fees

Bangkok Airways’ baggage allowance depends on your booked travel class. Economy class passengers are allowed up to 20 kilograms while passengers with an infant are allowed an additional 10 kilograms. Blue Ribbon and Premier class passengers are allowed up to 30 kilograms and again an additional 10 kilograms for infants.

Excess baggage fees may apply for those passengers that exceed the allowed baggage limits. It is also subject to the availability of space in the aircraft so be sure to pre-purchase additional baggage space or check with the airline.


Bangkok Airways offers only two travel class – Economy and their ‘Premier Class’ service which is currently only available on certain routes from Bangkok and Samui.

Premier Class passengers offer single aisle configuration leaving middle seats empty to provide additional convenience and comfort. Premier Class offer a seat pitch of 31 inches and seats 19.83 inches wide. Passengers in this class will also enjoy a select in-flight menu, additional baggage allowance, and priority baggage claim.

At the Airport

Priding itself to be ‘Asia’s Boutique Airline’, Bangkok Airways provides its own airport lounge available in selected airports such as in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Krabi, Phuket, Samui and Siem Reap. Bangkok Airways’ Boutique Lounge offers free WiFi internet, snacks and drinks, television, newspaper and magazine reading as well as computer stations for passenger’s use.
