Officially known as the Kingdom of Denmark, Denmark is a country in Scandinavia and is located in Northern Europe. It is the most southern of the Nordic countries and consists of more than 400 islands, with only 72 of which are populated. Denmark is usually divided into five regions: Jutland, Zealand, Lolland-Falster, Bornholm and Funen and Surrounding Islands.

Jutland is the European mainland. It is home to the beautiful old holiday town called Skagen and one of Denmark’s oldest town called Ribe. It is also where Legoland is located. Aalborg Airport is the third largest airport and operates flights to around 20 European destinations. The other airports are Aarhus Airport and Malmö-Sturup Airport.

Rosenborg Castle – Located in Copenhagen, Rosenborg Castle is a Dutch renaissance castle originally built as a summerhouse in the country used by Danish regents as a royal residence until 1710. Don’t miss the exhibit of the Crown Jewels, the Danish Crown Regalia and the Throne Chair of Denmark located inside the castle.

Tivoli Gardens – A popular amusement park and pleasure garden located in Copenhagen. It is considered to be the second oldest amusement park in the world after Dyrehavsbakken in Klampenborg. The Tivoli Gardens features a total of 27 rides including 4 roller coasters.

The Little Mermaid – A statue depicting a mermaid made entirely out of bronze, it is displayed on a rock located by the waterside of Langelinie promenade in Copenhagen. The statue is based on the fairytale named the Little Mermaid written by the famous Danish author, Hans Christian Andersen. It is now considered as a Copenhagen icon and continues to be a major tourist attraction.
