It is a privately owned corporation and it has the largest network of flights to hubs and cities in South Africa. Airlink operates regular flights to 37 destinations in 9 African countries. It also has code-sharing agreements with South African Airways and South African Express. When flying on Airlink, you can also earn rewards and miles privileges with Voyager Miles, which is South African Airways loyalty program. Formed in 1978, by incorporating a range of smaller airlines, Airlink has since entered into a strategic alliance as of 1997 with South African Airways and South African Express.

Checking In

Airlink has an online check-in service that allows travelers to check-in starting from 24 hours before the flight departure schedule. Upon arrival at the airport, you only have to deposit your checked baggage at the bag drop counter or the airline check-in counters. When traveling in groups of 10 and above or if you have special travel requirements like oversized luggage or traveling with infants or elderly passenger that need assistance, you need to check-in personally at the Airlink airport counter. Please allow for ample time for queuing time and the check-in process as the check-in counters will close 30 minutes to one hour before the flight departure time.

Seating

While the majority of the Airlink aircraft have a single-class Economy cabin, there are some flights that have a Business Class and Economy Class configuration. The seats in the Economy cabin are standard 18-inch wide leather seats with no built-in TV screens or power outlets. The Business Class seats are almost identical to the seats in Economy Class, but they have extra legroom, and the middle seat left empty.

Baggage Guide

The checked baggage allowance for most flights on Airlink is 20 kilograms for Economy Class passengers and 30 kilograms. for Business Class. In addition to this, all passengers can also have carry-on baggage. The maximum weight per carry-on bag is 8 kilograms. Economy Class passengers are allowed one carry-on bag, while Business Class passengers can have two carry-on baggage.

In Flight Service

Meals or light snacks with your choice of beverage are complimentary on all Airlink flights. You may also request for special meals online, but this requires a minimum of 72 hours notice. Special meals available are Vegan, Kosher and Muslim meals only. There is no audio-video in-flight entertainment on Airlink flights. Panorama, Airlink's in-flight magazine, is available on all flights.
