XiamenAir is considered to the first airline to be operated in a modern business setting in China. Founded in 1984 and based out of Xiamen in Fujian Province in China, Xiamen Air operates from its hub airport of Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport and with secondary hubs in Fuzhou and Hangzhou. The key shareholder in XiamenAir is China Southern Airlines. In turn, XiamenAir has majority stake in Hebei Airlines and Jiangxi Airlines.

XiamenAir operates a direct flight from Fuzhou to New York City (JFK Airport). XiamenAir officially became part of the SkyTeam alliance as its 19th member in 2012. XiamenAir offers convenient online check-in service if you have an e-ticket for a domestic flight departing from Xiamen Airport. You can print your boarding pass in your home or office and go straight to your departure gate upon arrival at the airport. Passengers on international flights including passengers with special requirements would have to check in at the XiamenAir check-in counters at the airport. It is recommended to be at the check-in counters 3 hours before the scheduled departure of your flights.

Baggage Allowance

In both Business and Economy Class, each passenger is allowed to bring one piece of carry-on item that does not weigh more than 5kg. First Class passengers are allowed two pieces of carry-on items as long as each item does not weigh more than 5kg. The checked baggage allowance for domestic flights is 20kg for Economy Class, 30kg in Business Class, and 40kg for First Class. Infants have no baggage allowance. On international flights, the free baggage allowance is generally the same but may vary for selected origins and destinations. Infants on international flights have a complimentary baggage allowance of 10kg.

Seating

XiamenAir uses Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners for their long-haul flights on premium routes. It has First, Business, and Economy Classes. The First and Business Class seats are lie-flat beds with individual screens, power, and USB sockets. The First Class cabins are also configured in open suites. The Economy Class has standard 17" wide seats with a 32" pitch. The other aircraft used for short to medium haul flights have only Business and Economy Class or all-Economy. The Business Class will have recliner seats for these smaller aircraft.

In Flight Service

F&B: Beverages are served on all flights in both First and Business Class on XiamenAir. Beverages are only served in Economy Class on flights greater than 1 hour and 15 minutes. Meals and snacks are served depending on flight length. Special meals may be ordered 24 hours before the flight departure.

Entertainment: Individual tablets or in-seat screens are provided for use in First and Business Class. Economy Class passengers will have overhead drop-down screens. There are movies, TV shows, and documentaries to suit all ages. A variety of music genres is provided by streaming various radio stations. WiFi is available for free or for a fee on selected cabins and aircraft.
