Asiana Airlines, formerly Seoul Airlines, started in 1988 with the aim for ‘maximum safety and customer satisfaction through service’. After 25 years, it now operates a fleet of 83 aircrafts making them one of the top global airlines. Asiana Airline is one of South Korea’s two major airlines, one of which is Korean Air. Based on out of Seoul, this popular airline has two hubs – Gimpo International Airport for domestic flights and Incheon International Airport for international flights.

Asiana Airlines is a member of Star Alliance operating 14 domestic and 90 international flights across Asia, Europe, North America and Oceania. It is a shareholder of Air Busan, South Korea’s low cost regional carrier.

How to Check In

At the airport, proceed directly to the assigned check-in counters and present your passport, identification card, e-ticket or e-ticket certificate and all the necessary travel documents required for your destination such as visas and other supporting documents. After all travel documents are verified, you will be provided with your seat number, boarding pass and baggage tag. For domestic flights, make sure to check-in at least 20 minutes before departure. For international flights, check-in counters close at least 60 minutes before departure.

Baggage Allowance & Fees

For flights flying Americas routes, First and Business Class passengers are offered free baggage allowance of 2 pieces of up to 32kg (70lbs) and 158cm dimension each. For Travel Class passengers, free baggage allowance is 2 pieces of up to 23kg (50lbs) and 158cm dimension each. When flying non-Americas routes, First Class passengers are allowed up to 40kg (88lbs) while Business Class passengers are offered up to 30kg (66lbs). For Travel Class passengers, free baggage allowance is up to 20kg (44lbs). Infants are allowed up to 10kg (22lbs) for foldable strollers, a cradle or a safety seat.


Asiana Airlines offers 5 classes starting with their most premium flying experience, the First Suite Class. This premium seat is the first among Korean airlines providing seats with the utmost privacy with two sliding doors, a 210cm fully flat bed furnished with a personal mini-bar and your own 32-inch HD monitor. Up next is their First Class which offers a seat the converts to a 180-degree reclining bed-type seat. This seat is 83 inches wide offering the best comfort and is separated by a seat partition giving you maximum privacy. For business class, Asiana Airlines offers two levels – the Business Smartium Class and Business Class. The Business Smartium Class provides a superior flight experience with a staggered seat layout offering each seat aisle access and a 180 degree reclining bed-type seat. Their Business Class also offers wide bed-type seats that recline nearly flat and with seat partitions to give passengers a nice, cosy and private space. Lastly, the Travel Class seats are provided with personal monitors, 110v power supply system, satellite phone and the best Korean in-flight meals and entertainment.

Inflight Food

Partnering with prominent restaurants and culinary experts, Asiana Airlines offers new and special in-flight meals. Passengers can choose between Western comfort food, Korean royal foods and traditional Japanese meals. Eco-friendly coffees and prestigious wines are also offered in-flight. You can also choose to pre-book special in-flight meals such vegetarian options; Kosher, Hindi and Moslem meals; and low-fat, low-calorie or low-sodium meals.
