Based out of Santa Fe, Álvaro Obregón in Mexico City, Volaris, or Concesionaria Vuela Compañía de Aviación, S.A. de C.V., is a low-cost Mexican airline that has its operational base in Tijuana, at the General Abelardo L. Baggage Allowance & Fees

For Volaris checked baggage, domestic and international passengers are allowed one luggage, not to exceed 55lbs and 62 inches or 158 centimeters in linear length. The airline allows up to four extra baggage pieces to be purchased, also to follow the strict guidelines for weight and size. The airline holds the right to decline the acceptance of any baggage, all depending on aircraft cargo space. The airline also accepts cardboard boxes as checked baggage. For the carry-on baggage, domestic and international passengers are allowed two luggage pieces, not to exceed 41 inches in linear length, or 9.8 x 15.7 x 15.7 inches. The airline advises that carry-on baggage should fit the aircraft compartment measurement. Among the carry-on baggage pieces that are free of charge include backpacks, briefcases, laptop cases, purses, and the like.

Volaris takes care of its passengers on air and on land, via its land transfer or land transportation. The Volaris shuttle service takes the passengers either closer to the airport or to the final destination. To avail of the exclusive service, add the shuttle service while booking via the ‘manage booking’ section of the airline website or via the airline call center. Among the available shuttle service routes include to and from Tijuana and Cancun, via San Diego International Airport and Ensenada Airport, or via Airport - Hotel Zone/ Downtown and Playa del Carmen Airport.

Punctuality (how many hours before to check-in, etc.)

Volaris advises its passengers to follow the provided check-in times for its domestic and international flights. For domestic passengers that have printed their boarding pass acquired online, check-in starts from 72 to an hour prior to flight departure, while international passengers start from 24 to one hour prior to flight departure. For domestic passengers that have printed boarding pass via the airport kiosks, the check-in starts at around 24 hours to 45 minutes before the departure, or 24 hours to an hour before the flight for international passengers. For counter check-in, a minimum of two hours or three hours before the respective domestic and international flight departures are ideal as check-in counters close 45 minutes or 60 minutes before the domestic and international flight departures, respectively. In addition, Volaris will cut off boarding 30 minutes or 45 minutes before the domestic and international flights depart.
