The island country of New Zealand is located in the southwestern Pacific Ocean. It is geographically comprisesd of two main islands, the North Island, or Te Ika-a-Māui, and the South island, or Te Waipounamu, and several smaller islands. It covers a total area of 268,021 km2, and is situated approximately 1,000 south of the Pacific island areas of New Caledonia, Fiji, and Tonga, and about 1,500 km east of Australia. The capital is Wellington, and the largest city is Auckland.

Aoraki Mount Cook National Park - The dominating features of Aoraki Mount Cook National Park are the peaks of Aoraki Mountain Cook, the highest mountain in the country, and Mount Tasman. The national park has several formed tracks and recognized walking routes that visitors can follow should they wish to explore on foot. It is also possible to arrange light aircraft and helicopters to get to places from where visitors ski the mountains. Of course, scenic tours are also available. Other activities include mountaineering, tramping, and even Glacier Sea Kayaking.

Waitomo Glowworm Cave - The name makes it clear; this particular attraction is a cave in Waitomo best known for its population of glowworms. These species of glowworms, Arachnocampa luminosa, are about the size of an average mosquito and is found exclusively in New Zealand. Waitomo Glowworm Cave is part of the Waitomo Caves system, along with the Ruakuri Cave and Aranui Cave. At the entrance, there is a modern visitor center that offers information and organized tours.

Kelly Tarlton's Sea Life Aquarium - The Sea Life Aquarium, formerly Kelly Tarlton's Underwater World, is a public aquarium. The aquarium was opened in 1985 by marine archeologist and diver Kelly Tarlton (1937-1985, built in disused sewage storage tank in Auckland. The main exhibits are the Antarctic Encounter and the Underwater World, but Kelly Tarlton's Sea Life Aquarium also features several other exhibitions and education rooms such as the Antarctic Ice Adventure, NIWA Southern Oceans Discovery, the Pacific Shark Zone, and the Fish Gallery and Seahorse Kingdom.

The international airports in Christchurch and Auckland offer both short- and long-haul flights, the nearest international destinations being Nadi, Sydney, Brisbane, Gold Coast, and Melbourne. The multicultural town of Nadi is the gateway to Fiji, best known for soft coral diving, white sand beaches, and a beautiful natural environment. It is a popular honeymoon destination and romantic getaways in general, so there are quite a few adults-only and couples-only resorts. There are also family-friendly accommodations and attractions, most popular of which are the Garden of the Sleeping Giant, Fiji Museum, and Sigatoka Jet Boat Safari.

The airport in Christchurch has connections to Bangkok, Dubai, and Singapore, while the airport in Auckland has flights to Beijing, Apia, Hong Kong, Honolulu, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, London, San Francisco, Shanghai, Tokyo, Seoul, and a few other far-off destinations. The city of San Francisco in California, USA, is best known for its hilly landscape, cable cars, and vibrantly coloured Victorian houses. It is home of the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, spanning the mile-wide, three-mile-long Golden Gate strait between San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean.

New Zealand has six international airports, only two of which have direct connections with countries other than Fiji and Australia. These two main airports are Christchurch International Airport and the larger Auckland Airport. Together, the two airports provide regular service in and out of New Zealand.
