Established in 2003, Aero Mongolia is a privately-owned airline and the smaller of the two national airlines of Mongolia. The other national airline is flag carrier, MIAT Mongolian Airlines. Aero Mongolia currently flies to eleven destinations in Mongolia as well as to three international destinations. These international destinations are Irkutsk in Eastern Siberia, Russia and the cities of Hohhot and Urumqi in Northern China. The airline operates from its main base at the Chinggis Khaan International Airport in Ulaanbaatar. The domestic flight network of Aero Mongolia is quite extensive as the vast, mountainous country largely depends on air transport. Besides its regular scheduled flights, Aero Mongolia also operates charter flights. It has a unique frequent flyer program, SkyMiles, which allows members to earn 10 Mongolian Tugriks for each kilometer flown. The earned cash bonus is saved on a cash card. Aero Mongolia is not a member of any airline alliances.

Why Fly with Aero Mongolia?

Check In Guide

Checking in for your Aero Mongolia is only possible at the airport counters. The airline currently does not have a web or mobile check-in services. The airport check-in counters usually open one to two hours before the flight departure time, depending on the airport. Do allow for enough time to check-in especially during the peak summer season as the Aero Mongolia check-in counters will close 30 minutes before the flight is scheduled to depart.

Seating Guide

Aero Mongolia operates a fleet of five Fokker aircraft. The turboprop-powered aircrafts can seat 50 or 100 passengers, depending on the model, in a single-cabin Economy Class configuration. The 17” wide e-leather seats are arranged in a 2-2 layout with a comfortable 32” pitch throughout the cabin. The larger Fokker 100 which has a seating capacity of 100, has a 2-3 seat configuration with a roomier seat pitch of 34”.

Baggage Allowance

Each passenger on Aero Mongolia fights are allowed to carry on baggage that weighs not more than 5 kilograms. The total checked baggage allowance of 15 kilograms per passenger also includes the weight of the hand-carried baggage. An excess baggage fee will be imposed on baggage that will exceed the allowable limits.

In Flight Service

F&B: A light snack or beverage may be served on selected flights.

Entertainment: Aero Mongolia flights do not come with inflight entertainment. It is best to bring your mobile device, a book, or enjoy the views of Mongolia's mountain ranges.
