Florida is a southeastern state in the United States of America. It has the longest coastline in the country, approximately 2,170 kilometers, thanks to being state that is largely a peninsula between the Gulf of Mexico, the Straits of Florida and the Atlantic Ocean.

Florida is home to many of the most popular tourist destinations in the country from several world-famous amusement parks to extensive national parks and gorgeous beaches. When planning your holiday in Florida, here are just a few destinations not to be missed:

Everglades National Park – The Everglades is a U.S. National Park located in Florida. It is the largest subtropical wilderness in the United States and is the third largest national park in the country. The park was declared a World Heritage Site, an International Biosphere Reserve and a Wetland International Importance, one of only three in the world that bear that distinction. Everglades is home Florida’s most iconic animals including the American alligator, Florida panther and manatee. The park is open daily, 24 hours a day. However, some entrances to the park may be closed in the evenings and based on seasonality. Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex – The visitor complex of NASA’s Kennedy Space Center has exhibits and displays of historic spacecraft and memorabilia. It contains the separate Apollo/Saturn V Center and United States Astronaut Hall of Fame. The visitor center also offers a series of bus tours of the spaceport which also includes a stop at the Launch Complex 39. It has an observation platform providing visitors panoramic views of launch pads and the surrounding Kennedy Space Center property. Don’t miss a ride on the Shuttle Launch Experience which is a simulated ride into space.

Walt Disney World – An entertainment complex located in Bay Lake, Walt Disney World Resort is the flagship of Disney’s worldwide theme park empire. Disney World is home to 4 theme parks, 2 water parks,  4 golf courses, 2 themed miniature golf courses, 1 nine-hole walking golf course for

young golfers, 27 themed resort hotels, 9 non-Disney hotels, 1 camping resort, 1 residential area and several other recreational and entertainment venues. The first and original theme park is the Magic Kingdom followed by Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Traveling to Florida can be done through any of the international airports located in the state. The Miami International Airport would be the biggest and busiest airport in the state. If you plan to visit the Everglades or Miami’s many beaches, this is the airport to choose. If you are planning a holiday in Disney World and attractions within the Central Florida region, the best airport to fly into would have to be the Orlando International Airport. Now if the Gulf Coast is what you want, namely the Tampa Bay area, booking a flight through the Tampa International Airport would be the best option. If you are flying with a domestic low cost airline carrier, you will likely be flying through the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. There are other large airports in various cities in the state, they can be found in Sarasota, Key West, Tallahassee, Jacksonville, Pensacola and many more.
