Choose the right hire car
The best hire car depends on your trip. A smaller car can be easier to park on city breaks, while an SUV or estate gives you more space for passengers and luggage. Think about where you'll be driving in Sofia and how much room you'll need.
Compare the total cost
A cheaper daily price doesn't always mean it’s the best value for money. Fuel policies, mileage limits and optional extras can all affect the final cost. Comparing what's included, not just the headline price, gives you a better idea of what you'll actually pay.
Airport or city pickup?
Where you collect your car can make a big difference to the price. If you’re flying into Sofia, collecting your rental at the airport is more convenient, but it might be more expensive. If your plans are flexible, compare different car hire locations across Sofia.
Understand the fuel policy
Fuel policies vary between car hire providers. A full-to-full policy means you collect the car with a full tank and return it full, so you only pay for the fuel you use. With a pre-purchase fuel policy, you pay for a full tank when you collect the car, even if you don't use all the fuel.
Check the mileage allowance
Some hire cars come with unlimited mileage, while others charge once you go over a set distance. If you’re going on a road trip or just want to explore Sofia, knowing the mileage limit before you set off can help you avoid unexpected charges.
