Lovely again.

Super friendly and accommodating hosts, an old, lovingly restored house with great old furniture, a really sweet room with a view of the lake.
Very tasty food, both for dinner and breakfast.
Lots of local and organic products.
Very nice garden and private access to the lake.

Shabby dining experience - food was okay - impersonal atmosphere!

During the reservation, the occasion for our dinner was clearly stated, namely the 90th. Birthday of the family head. This was clearly acknowledged during the appointment confirmation by Mr. Zerlauth. 6 adults and one child treated themselves to appetizers, main courses, and desserts. The food was satisfactory. - which one can ultimately expect in these proud price ranges.
Absolutely inexcusable is that the host/chef was too good to show up at our table to take care of his guests and their well-being. This is what one calls "disinterest in its purest form!"
I find it absolutely impossible that no one cared even a little about the 90-year-old honoree, let alone hinted at a minimal gesture to celebrate the day. This is simply shabby and unworthy of a true, warm host!
Upon arrival, as well as at departure, we were treated in an absolutely distant and impersonal manner; the same applies to the service, which, while somewhat functional, came across as completely loveless. The ambiance resembled that of a cold storage facility... For us, there will certainly be no next time at this establishment.

Sehr geehrter hjmue
Burkhard Zerlauth

A little loveless

The hotel-restaurant Flyhof is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy. We were able to experience this several times and we were very much looking forward to the food and the ambience. Unfortunately, this time we were disappointed and could not really enjoy the dinner. The service was very inattentive and - when you needed it - shone through absence. The food was OK, but where usually the anticipation of eating unfolded while watching, there was nothing to discover from culinary art. Unlovingly cooked and served banally on the plate. Nothing special. The apple strudel was warmly touted and came out cold. It's a shame and we wonder what happened here.

Incredible and "human" experience

This hotel is in a privileged location. In addition, an atmosphere and a spectacular tranquility such as the quality of the hotel will focus on the figure of one of the characters led by Sara. Sara is incredible. He is a very nice person, asks you to help and makes you feel like you are at home. We had a very pleasant and deep conversation and everyone enjoyed their company. One of the aspects that distinguishes the difference when staying in a hotel is the ability of the people who manage the setup and make the stay much more pleasant. We greet everyone that name. Sara. Human and professional quality. Returned this verano (Sara, reserve a room ;-)

3 star unusual hotel with popular restaurant looking over the lake

We spent one night here in a double room (#14) with private bath. We did not find the hotel hard to locate watching for the signs as we approached Amden. When we arrived in the early afternoon, parking in front of the hotel was full and we were instructed to drive a little further down the road where there was a space on the left dedicated to hotel parking. Later, we were able to park in the lot next to the hotel. Our upstairs room was small and poorly lit with only the two lights near the beds. Furnishings included twin beds, a small chair (used for one piece of luggage), a luggage rack, wardrobe with five fake hangers, and two window "shelves," one of which had a lake view through the trees. Wifi was okay. The small bathroom was completely tiled with lovely tiles, with a very small sink, walk in shower, small shelf, toilet, and no door. There was liquid soap and a set of 2 large, 2 medium, and 2 blue beach towels. (We walked down the road in the afternoon where people were picnicking and bathing.) We dined outdoors on veal medalions with white and green asparagus and risotto for one plate and wiener schnitzel with French fries for another together with a 2015 Melser Rathauskeller pinot noir. The meal and lake/mountain view were excellent. At $290, the room and restaurant bill was expensive and we paid that evening as we did not plan to stay for breakfast. We had an interesting experience the next morning, which was not a crisis. The shower was awkward to use as the blue faucet controlled the upper shower head, while the red faucet controlled the water in the lower spout. That morning, the upper valve stuck with the water on. We had to leave it on after calling the owner to let him know the problem. We later got an email saying he had resolved the problem. We would recommend the restaurant but find a more comfortable and well lit room elsewhere.
