Well presented quality room, would cost several times the price in the UK, quiet, good internet, small selection of tea and coffee in the room. Downside is the bathroom which although well upholstered didn't divide the shower from the rest so the whole floor got wet. Aircon effective but blows at the bed.
Less than a 5 minute walk to / from the subway. 5 mins walk to the nearest cathedral, multiple additional sites within 15 minutes.

Great wee hotel in the heart of Sofia. Only 5 minutes walk from the metro. Friendly staff and excellent room. Lots to do and see in the immediate area. A fantastic place to stay for a Sofi adventure

Great location for city sights. Comfortable rooms. Well appointed with necessary equipment for comfortable stay - kettle toiletries …Quite noisy though as on main road. Noisy plumbing too.

All that shines is not gold
We were initially wowed by the look and location of this hotel but were let down as soon as we went up to our room.
The views from the windows were great but the beds, two single ones, were really small. We then had trouble switching on the lights, working out how the TV works, and managing the aircon. It was really frustrating. We looked in the information pack that was in the room but other than rules and regulations there were no instructions to help guests navigate the equipment in the room. Eventually, someone from the reception desk came to help but it was obvious that he didn't really want to spend time on it. We never really worked out exactly how to operate the TV and unfortunately it came on by itself a few times while we were asleep and woke us up... We had similar issues with the aircon, which would go off by itself during the night and wake us up with the heat. There was also a smell of cigarette smoke at one point, even though this is meant to be a non-smoking hotel. Overall sleep quality was not great here. We also had issues in the bathroom, which was completely flooded when we used the rain shower.
Room service did not replace our tea cups in the 3 days we stayed there. We had unwashed tea cups in the room for 3 days. When I asked for some fresh ones at the reception desk they never arrived. I also didn't like that there was no protector separating the bed sheet from the mattress.
Unfortunately, in spite of the good location and refurbishment of this hotel, it's obvious that customers are not at the centre of attention of staff. We never really made ourselves comfortable in our room and our sleep quality was also not great.
One evening we came back at 18.00 with the intention of spending some time in the cafe. Only to find it closed. According to the opening hours on the door, it should have remained open until 19.00... We ended up going back out in the cold weather to another cafe.
Here's the big question: would we book this hotel again? And the honest answer: only if we couldn't find a similar one in the same price range and central location. Ideally, we would avoid it.
