A warm welcome and good accommodation and don't forget the giraffes!

Our first night in Botswana. The collection from airport was seemless and the driver charming.
We were upgraded to the "honeymoon suite" which was a lovely room and the temp control was welcome to ward off the early morning chills.
We booked this property specifically for the giraffe experience and we were not disappointed. We have been lucky enough to do at least 7 safaris in different countries, but I was intrigued to see the animals close up. The late afternoon experience, just the two of us, was a fabulous easy first afternoon, watching these graceful animals with G&T in hand as the sun went down was a great reminder of why we keep returning to Africa.
Dinner back at the lodge was a simple set meal (there were only four guests in house) but it was a starter followed by beef pepperpot plus veg, which was tasty and tender and was served by a chatty and polite young lady. I am alergic to wheat so every meal the chef made bread, pancakes for breakfast etc, specifically for me, which I was extremely impressed with and grateful for. Whilst not the most glamourous of lodges the welcome was warm, the staff engaging and the food tasty and plentiful.
We also left our english teabags in the room in error and without our knowledge they were sent on to our tour operator, who kindly flew them to a later stop, a very welcome surprise ....... that's guest service for you

Don't go to this place!!

Don't go here!! A HIPPO entered the camp, although we were told we could move freely, also at night, and were not escorted to our rooms. When we heard a hippo and hyenas calling, the manager just answered,"this is nature, you can not control it!" "Oh, hyenas, no problem, have you ever heard about a human being attacked by a hyena???" We were the only guest, a significant signal for the high season. The food was a shame, the whole surroundings as well as public facilities and the tent neglected and in a very bad state. The stuff very inattentive and unmotivated. I've been traveling to Africa for 20 years now and have never experienced anything like this. The price is beyond mentioning. If you don't want to ruin your holidays, don't stay here.

Spacious tents

The tents are spacious and are equipped with an internal bathroom and bathtub and an outdoor shower.
The tents are spacious, the bed is comfortable, and the cleanliness is good.
The restaurant service is good.
Kind staff.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us this feedback - we welcome all reviews from our guests.
Our team is generally commended on their hospitality and professionalism so it's a great shame that you didn't feel this was your experience.
In terms of our conservation. We are set up to fund significant conservation and community work through Lorato Rescue Centre and our giraffe conservation work. Since we are a wild reserve rather than a zoo, we do not interfere unless human's have caused problems for the animals.
There is indeed a dead giraffe on the reserve currently. He died of old age and is being gradually consumed by natural predators, among them a brown hyena, jackals, genets, mongooses and several bird species. The cooler weather has slowed this process, but he is providing valuable sustenance to all these wonderful creatures.
Any member of our team would have been more than happy to explain this to you - we always welcome questions.
Kind regards,
Thamo Telele Team

Full price would be vastly overpriced

We visited as part of a 2 week guided tour group, 1 night.
Don't know what the tour operator paid but the advertised "offers" quote £1100 per night!!!! No way!!!
The setting is delightful. The rooms - individual "chalets" in reality - delightful. Beds comfortable. The evening turndown even put a hot water bottle in each bed.
Open to the elements shower, deep old style bath. Air con/heating unit. Not kettle in room but central Lodge had these
Had the guided giraffe tour / talk / sundowner drink included. Fun, but somewhat set up unlike real lifr outside the fence.
No choice lunch and no choice dinner $11 and $25, overpriced but maybe £1100ers get that included?
Breakfast a bit of mess. Couldn't even get my wife's eggs right meaning she didn't have time for a cooked breakfast before we had to leave.
Enjoyed the stay but nowhere near perfect
