Outback Oasis

We chose the Outback Hotel mainly on price, as it had the cheapest ensuite rooms available at Yulara. It is situated about ten minutes walk from the rest of Yulara. It is a pleasant walk through the desert vegetation and in the middle is a lookout overlooking Uluru. The rooms are spread out from reception and the outside is very much 80's era outback architecture.
The reception staff were very helpful and welcoming. Our room was perfectly situated near the foyer, bar and restaurants. We loved the outdoor restaurant/kiosk and bar. The food was generally good, but it's a pity there's not more options. The indoor restaurant is under utilized, only opening for a $48 buffet breakfast and that wasn't in our budget so we ended up going to the Kulata Academy (which was excellent but lacked space and was always busy in the township).
Although the outside was a little drab, our room certainly wasn't. Our spacious room with two queen sized beds was beautifully appointed. I loved the desert red tones in the carpet and gorgeous Aboriginal dot painted headboard. The bathroom was modern and the room very clean.
The Outback Hotel has great service and atmosphere, I highly recommend it.

OUTBACK LODGE DIRTY REPELLENT

Hi, Kate. We spent 3 nights at the ootbak lodge. I booked thinking we were at the hotel. Unfortunately we were in a bouje of a filthy filth. We didn't use any armchairs because they were so dirty. The mattresses were so soft that we slept on top of each other. We went to the common dining room I invite the management to go there so it was a pigsty. Microwaves are devoid of tray sinks were dirty finally brief for 180 euros we lived in dirt. We even put on our taps to go into the shower. It's terrible to welcome tourists to an environment like this. And for the price not even a breakfast.
We strongly discourage this lodge and I reserve the right to report it to the Australian Tourist Guide.

Cher Laurent,
Merci d’avoir pris le temps de partager vos impressions. Il semble que vous ayez séjourné à Outback Lodge, qui est notre option d’hébergement de type auberge partagée. Standard rooms, nice property

Comfortable Stay for Visiting Uluru. My family and I stayed here in March 2025 (apologies for not leaving a review sooner). We chose this property for an overnight stay while visiting Uluru (Ayers Rock), and overall, we had a pleasant experience. The rooms were comfortable but a little dated, with an older style design. While the accommodations were fairly standard, they met our needs for a short stay. There is a restaurant on site for lunch and dinner, although we found it quite expensive and the menu selection was somewhat limited. That said, the food was fine, and the convenience of having dining available on the property was appreciated. Breakfast was very good, with plenty of options to choose from and a nice way to start the day before exploring the area. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay. We also enjoyed the small gift shop on site, which offered a nice selection of souvenirs and essentials. Overall, this was a convenient and comfortable place to stay when visiting Uluru. The friendly service, good breakfast, and on-site amenities made for an enjoyable experience.
Another early check-in, had to wait on lobby.

Avoid the bar music

The singer in the bar, Marc, asked for suggestions for songs. Had a list of songs, then refused to play one off his list because someone (a person her seems to know) didn’t like it. Pretty pitiful, just playing what his friend wanted. Ruined the atmosphere. Wouldn’t recommend. What’s the point in having a request list and then just playing the same music over and over each night.

Great access to all things Uluru etc but average in dining area

If you like a steak sandwich with a tiny piece of steak and you enjoy cooking your own steak for $50 each and you like cold chips and don’t mind paying $60 for a $20 bottle of wine. This is your place.

Dear Altillett,
Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate your constructive comments, which help us improve. Operating in a remote location means supply chain and transport costs are significantly higher than hotels in major cities, which can impact pricing. We will also share your comments regarding the dining experience with our team for review.
Kind regards,
Ayers Rock Resort Team
