Officially the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka is a country in South Asia near the southeast of India. Also previously known as Ceylon, it is an island that shares maritime borders with Maldives and India.

Sri Lanka enjoys a tropical climate with only two major seasons. The North-East monsoon season happens during the months of October to January while the South-West monsoon is from the months of May to July. Rain can occur anytime of the year in most parts of Sri Lanka. However, do take note that the country’s climate can vary differently from one part of Sri Lanka to another. For example, cities in the dry zone such as Hambanthota have an average temperature of 30 to 35 degrees Celsius while cities located in the hills of Central Sri Lanka can have an average temperature of -5 to 20 degrees Celsius all year.

Flights to and from Europe, Southeast Asia, China, Japan and the Middle East are available in the airport.
