A dream for hikers, We were only one night, will stay there longer,

Very clean accommodation, good breakfast, very friendly staff, free Welan, hairdryer in the bathroom, large TV, everything Tippi-Toppi, very quiet location, walls a bit hard of hearing, great view, value for money ***** 5 stars, mini golf and summer toboggan run visible from the window, (very funny) no noise, the squirrels were also not disturbed, come back

Family friendly - lots for kids to do, all within walking distance

The hotel is a fantastic base for a family - you walk out of the door and there is an excellent playground, the summer toboggan run, trampolines and other child-friendly activities right there. Down the hill (about a 10 minutes walk) there is a huge playground with a cafe and mini golf. You can also walk from the hotel to the open air museum (about half an hour through the woods).
The nearby village, Kommern, is easily walkable (half an hour) along a pretty path along the bottom of the valley, and on the way there are several nice restaurants (Croatian, Greek) at which we had good meals.
The hotel itself is basic, but clean and the comfortable. The only issue was the lack of hot water in the mornings - we found it ran out quickly and the last person to shower ended up with a trickle of cold water instead of a warm shower. The breakfast buffet is limited but fine - bread rolls, cereal, yoghurt, ham, cheese, a piece of fruit, hard boiled eggs. Lunch is sometimes available, but is a short menu with only one vegetarian option.
The hotel itself is about an hour from Cologne by train from Mechernich (a five minute taxi ride away), so it is possible to do a day trip to Cologn easily.

Alles was das Kinderherz begehrt

Wir hatten hier sehr schöne Ferientage. Das Zimmer war einfach ausgestattet, aber blitzsauber. Das Badezimmer schien sogar ganz neu. Die Aussicht war herrlich und das Frühstück sehr reichlich. Nachts war es ganz ruhig, von anderen Gästen haben wir nichts gehört. Jeder war hier freundlich und zuvorkommend. Wir kommen hier gerne wieder her.
