Impressive

We stayed two nights in Hotel Schloss Hernstein in early May.
The hotel was really nice, the new and the old buildings. Our room was pretty simple in the new wing. Our sleeping quality was OK but it could be improved.
Breakfast was really fine. The huge garden with the lake was stunning. We walked a lot in the garden. Parking was easy, they had a semi-opened underneath garage at the entrance.
The atmosphere of the hotel was really cool.

Great Mood - otherwise disappointing

Our family was at a wedding in Schloss Hernstein. The complex with the small lake, the park and everything around it is beautiful. You don’t sleep directly in the castle but in an extension – all very clean and modern. Rooms functionally furnished. Dinner was excellent – even the prepared cocktails tasted really good. What I didn't like so much: the staff at the reception. They were quite friendly but: Either they weren't there and you had to call them or it took them a long time for everything. Printing out our bill at check out alone took five minutes – while behind us the row has become longer and longer. In the room there was a fridge but unfortunately no minibar – although that was stated in the description. The ordered extra bed was not available in one room – on request a baby bed was pushed in, after another complaint that the extra bed is needed for a teenager, it was replaced again. Two of our six rooms didn’t have air conditioning – the open window was somewhat from the heat. But due to generators near the rooms, a permanent soundscape could be heard. And especially in the more expensive suite, this is particularly bitter. The breakfast buffet was well – little choice and not really worth its price. There was far too little of everything – vegetables were only peppers and tomatoes, only a handful each on a small plate. As fruit, there were single strawberries and counted six pieces of mini watermelon pieces. In addition, the buffet was not compactly set up in one place but across the room. So you had to find everything that was more like a scavenger hunt. There is also a dedicated corner where fresh egg dishes can be ordered – but this was only sporadically staffed and the breakfast staff was generally very invisible to inquiries. Conclusion: the Mood is great – but there is a lot to catch up on at the reception and breakfast.

Charming castle hotel

Romantic castle hotel, taken over by the state of Lower Austria/Chamber of Commerce, renovated and operated as a seminar and leisure hotel. Great castle garden, ideal also for weddings and seminars. The food is really excellent (buffet), the staff is super friendly, helpful and competent and the whole facility has a great charm. Ideal for meetings, seminars and above all there is an old castle hall for weddings, where you can also celebrate the wedding party in the hotel afterwards. The rooms are modern and really clean and cozy! Top recommendation!

Customer orientation very expandable

Especially from a hotel in Austria I expect a warm welcome (nice that they are with us, they had a pleasant journey,...). In this hotel clear misrepresentation. The receptionist on duty had to be asked out of the back room by us and did not even have a “hello” for us. Also at check-out no demand whether everything was fine or other niceties. We are very disappointed about this and I think the lady should think about her career choice. On the positive side, I would like to mention the cleanliness of the rooms and the wonderful indoor pool. Also a walk around the idyllic castle pond was really beautiful.
