Ben Gurion International Airport is the main gateway to Israel. Named after Israel's first Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion, the airport serves as a hub for El Al, Israir Airlines, and Arkia Israel Airlines. El Al has flights to and from a number of European cities and flights further away in North America and Asia. Dozens of other regional airlines serve the country, primarily to Europe and the former Soviet Union republics and Egypt.

Ben Gurion Airport is easily accessible by train, bus or taxi. The Ben Gurion Airport Railway Station, is located in Terminal 3 and the journey to Tel Aviv Savidor Central Railway Station in the city takes about 20 minutes. The service does not operate on Shabbat and Jewish holidays but on all other days it runs 24 hours. Rental cars and taxis, as well as shuttle vans are widely available at the airport. A popular transport option is a share taxi van, known in Hebrew as a "monit sherut".

Independence Hall

Originally the residence of Meir Dizengoff, Tel Aviv’s first city mayor, the Independence Hall as it is now called, is currently a museum dedicated to the signing of the Israeli Declaration of Independence and the history of Tel Aviv-Jaffa.

Tel Aviv Museum of Art

Tel Aviv’s largest art museum showcases an impressive and comprehensive collection of classical and contemporary art with emphasis on Israeli art. The museum comprises of three separate buildings and a sculpture garden.

The White City

Located in central Tel Aviv, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is an excellent ensemble of Bauhaus architecture and unique example of the innovative town-planning ideas of the early 20th century. It is probably the worlds‘s biggest collection of buildings done in the distinctive Bauhaus or International style. The Bauhaus Centre is open daily and organizes regular architectural tours of the city.

Beit Hatfutsot - The Museum of the Jewish People

Also known as the Museum of the Jewish Diaspora, this interesting museum is highly recommended for your itinerary. It has exhibits dedicated to showcase the many Jewish communities around the world, from ancient times up to the present day. The museum is located in the Tel Aviv University.

Old Jaffa

Located in the southern part of the city, Old Jaffa is a must see for any visitor to Tel Aviv. Archaeological discoveries and ancient documents show proof that Jaffa existed as a port city some 4,000 years ago, making it one of the oldest ports in the world. It has played a prominent role in biblical history in the stories of Jonah, King Solomon and Peter the Apostle. Here you can also find Jaffa´s famous Flea Market.

The best time to visit Tel Aviv is from March through April and September through November, when the weather is pleasantly warm and the rates not too expensive. Summer is also a popular season as Tel Aviv boasts some of the country’s best beaches.
