Georgia is a state in the south west of the United States of America named after the British royalty, King George II. Georgia is a good place to visit when on holiday in the USA. Atlanta, located in the north-central Georgia, is the capital city of the state and also known to be the home of Coca Cola. The metropolitan area of Atlanta is considered the cultural and economic center of the state. A noted son of the state is Jimmy Carter who was from Plains and was the President of the United States from 1977 to 1981.

World of Coca Cola – If you’re in the state known as the home of Coca-Cola, this permanent exhibition is not to be missed. Stone Mountain – Located in Stone Mountain Park in Georgia, it is a quartz monzonite dome monadnock. It is well known for having the largest bas-relief in the world. It shows a carving of Stonewall Jackson, Robert E. Lee and Jefferson Davis, three figures of the Confederate States of America. You can reach the summit of the mountain by a walking trail or by an aerial tram called the Skyride.

Getting around Georgia is easy with their public transport system called the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transport Authority (MARTA). MARTA serves Georgia residents and tourist with bus and rail transport. Buses operate daily starting at 5 in the morning and ending at 1 in the morning on the weekdays and 12:30 in the morning on weekends and holidays. Meanwhile, train services start at 4:45 in the morning on weekdays and 6 in the morning on weekends. Services end at 1 in the morning every day. Trains are frequent with one arriving at stations every 10 minutes during rush hours and between 15-20 minutes for off-peak periods.

If you plan to travel by train, Amtrak’s Crescent train runs every day serving New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, Charlotte, Gainesville, Birmingham and New Orleans. Both northbound and southbound services stops at the Atlanta Amtrak station.
