Phuket International Airport is a public airport serving the province of Phuket in Thailand. The airport is located in the north of Phuket Island, about 32 km from the centre of the province capital, Phuket City. The island itself is a popular tourist destination, hence Phuket International Airport directly plays a major role in the tourism industry of the country.

Ao Phang Nga Marine National Park - Phang Nga Bay is a bay in the Strait of Malacca, between the island of Phuket and the mainland of Thailand's Malay peninsula. The shallow 400-km2 bay is protected as Ramsar Site (no. 1185) of international ecological significance, as declared on 14 August 2002. Phang Nga Bay has 42 islands and at least 28 species of mangrove. At least 88 bird species, 82 fish species, 18 reptiles, 17 mammal species, and three amphibians are present in the site. The most famous island of the bay is Khao Phing Kan, also called James Bond Island because it was featured in the 1974 James Bond film.

Patong - Patong is a beach and town in the west coast of the island, and Phuket's main tourist resort. It is often referred to as the party capital of Asia. Patong boasts of plenty of hotels, restaurants, nightclubs, entertainment complexes, and is considered to be heaven for hedonists.

Bangla NightLife - Arguably one of the most popular reasons why tourists go to Phuket is for the nightlife, and Patong's Bangla Road is one of the best places for this. It contains the biggest clubs, various bars (beer bars and go-go bar included), and features all kinds of street performances and entertainment.

Old Phuket Town - Old Phuket Town is the historical town of Phuket City. Several of the old buildings have been restored and converted into museums, shops, restaurants, and hotels. Attractions include the China Inn Cafe and Restaurant, The House of the Beautiful Images coffee shop, Thai Hua Museum, Baan Chinpracha Museum, and Phuket Philatelic Museum.

The busiest international routes handled by Phuket International Airport are to and from Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Seoul, and Shanghai. Many people come to Hong Kong primarily for the excellent cuisine, lots of shopping opportunities, and family-friendly attractions like Hong Kong Disneyland, Victoria Peak, Hong Kong Wetland Park, Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens, and Ocean Park. Meanwhile in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, tourist attractions include Kuala Lumpur Bird Park, Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur Tower, Aquaria KLCC, Petronas Towers, and the Batu Caves.

Long-haul destinations from Phuket's international airport include Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Cologne, Dubai, and Zürich. The main sights on Zürich, Switzerland include the Grossmünster (Great Minster) church, Fraumünster (Women's Minster) Church, Swiss National Museum, and Zürich Museum of Art.

Phuket International Airport is a hub for Thai AirAsia, which offers domestic flights and flights to Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore. Other airlines include Qatar Airways, Thai Airways, Transaero Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Bangkok Airways, at Easter Jet. There are regular scheduled services to Manila, Abu Dhabi, Penang, Beijing, Jakarta, Moscow, Melbourne, Sydney, Doha, Novosibirsk, Perth, Xiamen, and a few other destinations.
