What to expect when hiring a car from Iloilo International Airport
Hiring a car in the Iloilo International Airport may prove to be a challenge as there is no car rental facility there. Travellers are better off looking for these types of services in the city of Iloilo, which is the main city centre near the airport. The rental car companies here are usually mom-and-pop start-up companies, so booking cannot be usually done online or through other means. Travellers may book by travelling from the airport to the city first, and then accessing the service providers along the Dalan Osmena roads and the Diversion Road/Benigno Aquino Avenue.
Driving around Iloilo International Airport
Most roads around the Iloilo international Airport are two-way roads, and the main major road in the vicinity is the Vice President Fernando Lopez Avenue, which connects the Old Iloilo-Capiz Road to the Diversion Road, the Benigno Aquino Road, the Dalan General Luna Road, and therefore, to the main city centre. Almost all the major roads are paved here, although traffic is to be expected when entering the central business district, especially those near the bigger establishment such as the Iloilo Business Park, the SM City Iloilo area, and the Megaworld Boulevard. Travellers will also notice that there are only few rental cars and vehicles, primarily because the locals here are mostly reliant on public transport – which is actually a cheaper and more convenient alternative. Locals are also polite here – and driving is unexpectedly safe.
