Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, Taiwan

Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport serves the capital city of Taipei and the surrounding northern regions of Taiwan. It is the largest airport in Taiwan and the peninsula’s primary aviation gateway for international traffic. Located about 40km (25 miles) from the Taipei city center in the Taoyuan County, it is also the busiest of Taiwan’s five international airports and one of the busiest worldwide. Taoyuan Airport was formerly known as Chiang Kai-shek International Airport until 2006.

Taoyuan Airport has two terminals. Airlines operating out of Terminal 1 include Cathay Pacific, Cebu Pacific Air, Jetstar Airways, and Tiger Airways. Terminal 2 processes other airlines including AirAsia, AirAsia Philippines, Air China, Delta Airlines, and Qantas Airlines.

There are SkyTrain and shuttle bus services that can transfer travelers between the two terminals. Both Arrival and Departure Halls of Terminal 1 are located on the first floor. The Arrivals Hall of Terminal 2 is located on the first floor, while Departures are located on the third floor.

Services and Facilities

Shops, restaurants, and convenience stores are located throughout all areas of each terminal in the Airport. From international-brand boutiques to loved food chains, Taoyuan Airport can keep you busy until it’s time to board your flight. There are marked Internet areas in the terminals, and children’s play areas are situated on the first, third, and basement floors of Terminal 1.

Passengers can look forward to being entertained at the Mind Garden and the Art Exhibition Space on the third floor of Terminal 2. For those who need a refresher, shower services are available throughout all the terminals, or be pampered at the spa and massage area on the fourth floor of Terminal 2. Massage chairs have also been placed around the terminals if you need more than a cushioned seat to rest on.

Prayer rooms are located on the third floor of Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. If you need help with your baggage, left luggage services are on the first floor of both terminals, while the baggage service centers are on the third floor of Terminal 1 and the first floor of Terminal 2. Head to the first floor of Terminal 1 for customs declaration and tax refund services. Payment of customs duty can be done on the first and Basement 2 level of Terminal 2.

If passengers need to spend more time in transit, they can choose from several transit hotels that surround Taoyuan Airport. With premium hospitality, unrivaled comfort, and calming steam baths, these hotels are a great way to spend the hours before leaving the Airport.

Transportation areas can be found on the first floor of each terminal. These include the shuttle bus station in Terminal 1, and the express bus, shuttle bus, hotel bus, tour bus, and high speed rail stations in Terminal 2.
