Rennell/Tingoa Airport is an airport within the Solomon Islands that serves the Tingoa or Tigoa area on Rennell Island. It is located at -11.55 latitude and 160.062778 longitude. The airport only operates one flight in and out of Bellona via Bellona/Anua Airport with the destination served by Solomon Airlines.
Highlighting Rennell Island, also referred to locally as Mugaba, it is the main island of the two inhabited islands that make up the Rennell and Bellona Province of the Solomon Islands. Rennell Ward can be further divided into six wards, with one to six consisting of Hutuna and Tegano; Niupani, Tebaitahe, and East Lake; Lughu and Avatai; Teabamagu, Kanava, and Tahanuku; Ngogona, Tingoa, Moreno & Hatagua. The Bellona Ward on the other hand, has four wards namely seven to 10 with Matangi; East Ghongau; West Ghongau; and Sa’aiho, respectively.
Rennell Island is considered worldwide as the second-largest raised coral atoll in the insular Pacific, as it occupies a total area of approximately 660 square kilometers or 250 square miles. Additionally, the island is home to approximately 1,840 inhabitants with languages such as Renbelian, Pijin, and a little bit of English as the primary languages of choice. Lastly, when within the island, the temperature records at around 23 to 28 degrees Celsius, or approximately 73.4 to 82.4 degrees Fahrenheit.
