 Beijing Capital International Airport

Beijing Capital International Airport rapidly ascended to become Asia's busiest airport in terms of passenger traffic. It ranked second as the world's busiest airport next to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International. In 2010, it has handled more than 73 million passengers according to Airports Council International. It is the main hub for Air China, the flag carrier of the People's Republic of China.

The airport has undergone a number of expansion throughout the years. Terminal 2 was completed to mark the 50th founding anniversary of the People's Republic of China. In 2007, a third runway has been added and opened to commercial flights to decongest traffic from the two existing runways. Another expansion (Terminal 3) was completed in 2008 to accommodate the increase in passenger traffic volume due to the Beijing Olympics.

Operated and managed by the state-controlled Beijing Capital International Airport Company Ltd., the airport serves more than 60 domestic and foreign airlines and connecting more than 5,000 scheduled flights within mainland China and cities overseas.
