Paris Charles de Gaulle International Airport, France

The Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport was inaugurated and commissioned in 1974, and was named after a notable French Statesman and General. Spread across more than 3,200 hectares, and one of the busiest airports in Europe, this airport serves as the gateway to the original La Ville-Lumiére, the City of Lights. The airport has the capacity of 80 million and saw almost 62 million passengers pass through its doors in 2013.

The Paris Charles de Gaulle is made up of three terminals, with Terminal 2 further divided into 7 sub-terminals (A-G). The three terminals are connected to 315 city-destinations by more than 100 airlines.

Terminal 1 serves international, Schengen (area comprising 26 European countries) traffic, and includes Star Alliance member companies. Terminal 2 serves international and Schengen traffic including Air France, its SkyTeam alliance partners, and oneworld member companies. Terminal 3 handles charter flights and low-cost carrier traffic mostly.

Moving around the airport landside is pretty straightforward. The CDGVAL, a light rail metro system operating every four minutes from 4am-1am, connects the three terminals. To find the fastest way from terminal to terminal airside, approach an information booth and enquire. Depending on your location, you may be able to walk or take an airport shuttle.
