Bancasi Airport is a public airport in the province of Agusan del Norte in Mindanao, Philippines. It is the only airport in this province, and the largest in the Caraga region. Also known as Butuan Airport, the commercial aviation facility serves the general area of Butuan City. It is operated by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, which is also responsible for the operations of other airports in the country, except for the major international airports.
The airport resides at an elevation of 141 ft (43 m) above mean sea level. It has an asphalt runway designated 12/30, measuring 6,450 x 150 ft (1,966 x 46 m).
The City of Butuan, where Bancasi Airport is located, is an urbanized city in the Philippines. The city was formerly known as the Kingdom of Butuan and Indianized kingdom. Today, Butuan City is known for its events such as the Kahimunan Festival, Balangay Festival, Butwaan Festival, Palagsing Festival, and Unaw Festival. It also boasts of natural wonders such as the widest and most navigable river in Mindanao, the Agusan River, and the majestic mountain plateau of Mount Mayapay. Other attractions include the Delta Discovery Pork, Bood Promontory Eco Park, National Museum (Butuan City Branch), the Balangay Shrine Museum, and Ramon Magsaysay Bridge. Bood Promontory Eco Park is the historic hill believed to have been the site where Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan (1480 - 1521) and his men were said to have celebrated the first Catholic mass in the country.
Bancasi Airport is served by a handful of local airlines. Cebu Pacific provides regular services to Ninoy Aquino International Airport, serving Manila, and Mactan–Cebu International Airport, serving Metro Cebu. The same routes are also provided by Philippine Airlines (operated by PAL Express). Cebgo only operates scheduled passenger services to NAIA.
There are plans for expansion of the apron, improvement, and expansion of the vehicular parking area, construction of concrete hollow block fence, and construction of drainage system. The airport will receive 45.5 million pesos for these improvements.
