TAME or TAME EP Linea Aerea del Ecuador is the flag carrier and the largest airline of Ecuador. Its main hub is in Quito at the Mariscal Sucre International Airport. The airline takes its name from Transportes Aereos Militares Ecuatorianos, as it was originally founded in 1962 for the Air Force of Ecuador. TAME eventually operated domestic, international and charter flights, and in 2011, Tame became a state-owned company and is no longer connected to the Ecuador Air Force. TAME flies to many points in Ecuador as well as to international destinations including, Colombia, Venezuela, and Brazil, as well as New York City and Fort Lauderdale, United States. TAME has a codeshare agreement with Panama’s Copa Airlines and operates a frequent flyer program called TAME Millas.

Checking In Guide

Online check-in service for TAME flights is available starting from 24 hours to 3 hours before flight departure on all domestic and selected international routes. If you have checked baggage, you must be at the airport at least 45 minutes before flight departure, and drop your bags at the Web Check-in counters. Do note; however, that online check-in is allowed for only a maximum of 9 passengers per reservation. Passengers with special requirements also will not be able to do online check-in. If you are checking-in at the airport, the recommended check-in times vary depending on the destination. For domestic flights, passengers must complete check-in procedures 40 minutes before flight departure. For international flights, passengers should allow at least 2 hours before the flight departure time for checking-in and immigration procedures.

Seating Plan

TAME offers mostly Economy Class seats on its fleet of aircraft, especially on its short-haul flights. On the larger aircraft, there is a Business Class cabin. These are the European type of Business Class seating wherein the seats are the same as the ones in the Economy except with a more generous seat pitch and legroom. The seats on the Airbus 330 aircraft are in staggered rows for a more spacious arrangement, but the seats do not recline fully flat.

Baggage Allowance

Baggage allowance depends on the destination and the cabin class. For flights between the United States and South America, passengers are given complimentary baggage allowance of two pieces at a maximum weight of 23 kilograms each. For domestic flights, passengers are allowed a maximum of two pieces, with a combined weight of 23 kilograms. Children over two years old will have the same baggage allowance as adults. Children under 2 years can have one piece of 23 kilograms if traveling from or through the USA, and for other routes, infants will have an allowance of one piece of 15 kilograms. Carry-on baggage allowance on all flights is one piece with a maximum weight is 8 kilograms and dimensions of 55cm high, 35cm wide and 25 deep plus one additional personal item.

F&B: Passengers on TAME airlines are provided with complimentary hot meals and their choice of beverage. Entertainment: All seats on TAME flights have integrated TV screens with onboard entertainment. The in-flight entertainment system offers a variety of movie and music channels for the duration of the trip.
