Silk Air is the regional airline that offers short to medium haul flights to 55 destinations in 16 countries around Asia and Australia. It is a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines. The airline has garnered multiple awards including Best Regional Airline, making it into the Travel Hall of Fame in TTG Asia Travel Awards. Silk Air is also one of the few regional carriers that have made it to World's Best Airline list by the Travel+Leisure magazine. It has also has been recognized for its excellent cabin crew service which embodies the regional spirit of the various destinations of Silk Air. SilkAir shares the KrisFlyer frequent flyer program with its parent company, Singapore Airlines. However, unlike Singapore Airlines, SilkAir is not a member of Star Alliance, so frequent flyer miles on SilkAir flights may only be credited on KrisFlyer. Silk Air flies to three destinations in the Philippines: Cebu, Davao, and Kalibo.

Why Fly with SilkAir

Check in Process

SilkAir offers web and mobile check-in services for all their passengers. Checking in online can be done starting from 48 hours before the scheduled departure time of their flight. When checking-in via the airport counters, it is best to be at the airport at least 2.5 hours before the flight's scheduled departure time. To avoid queues, there are also self-service check-in kiosks at selected airports.

Seating

There are only two cabin classes available on all SilkAir flights - Business and Economy. Business class cabins have leather seats with a pitch of between 39 to 40 inches, and ample legroom. Economy class cabins on SilkAir have a lesser seat pitch and legroom but are still quite comfortable.

Baggage Allowance

All Economy class passengers are given a complimentary hand baggage allowance of 7 kilograms as well as 30 kilograms of check-in baggage allowance. Business class passengers are allowed two carry-on baggage and 40 kilograms of checked baggage allowance. Special baggage handling options are also available for sports or musical equipment.

F&B

Inflight meals on Silk Air showcase the regional cuisines of the destination city. SilkAir offers Oriental and Western menus. Light snacks are also available on selected flights of less than one and a half hours.

Entertainment

Passengers on flights with WiFi streaming will enjoy the in-flight entertainment system, SilkAir Studio, which offers a greater array of international movies, television shows and music streamed directly onto their personal device via in-flight Wi-Fi. Apple users must download the SilkAir Studio mobile application before boarding while Android users can download the application onboard. Passengers in Business Class on flights more than two hours will be offered a tablet. SilkAir also provides a selection of magazine titles on board. The Silkwinds in-flight magazine is complimentary for all passengers.
