Mombasa Air Safari, also known as MAS or SKYROVER, is a coast scheduled airline based in Mombasa, a commune in Kenya. The airline provides and serves scheduled charters over the Kenya Coast, a popular destination in the country for its wonderful tropical beaches, magnificent wildlife, and game parks. The airline flies from many bush strips in the area, thereafter providing 'air safari' trips.

Originally started by Aussie Walker in 1970 as Rapid Air, the company was purchased in 1974 by Captain John Cleave and renamed it as Mombasa Air Services. From there, the company has been serving the coast tourism industry through Cessna 208 Grand Caravan aircraft and the Let 410 aircraft. While most of its flights are set and scheduled, the company also offers customized trips depending on the travelers' preference.

How to Check In

Formerly based in the Moi International Airport, Mombasa Air Safari only allows check-ins through the physical check-in counters in the airport. Unlike other airlines that allow online check-ins, there are no other means as to how to check-in for Mombasa Air Safari's flights. All passengers who are flying through the Mombasa Air Safari will be required to prove their identity by passport or other identity document containing a photograph. Latest allowable check-in time for all passengers is strictly 30 minutes on domestic flights and one hour on international flights before the scheduled departure time. The airline also reserves the right to depart up to 10 minutes ahead of the scheduled time if passengers are not present at the place of departure by the given time allowance.

Baggage Allowance & Fees

Passengers for Mombasa Air Safari are allowed a free 15-kilogram baggage inclusive of all hand luggage and cameras. Anything in excess of that will only be carried at the sole discretion of the captain of the aircraft if the payload of the aircraft and/or space permits. Each excess baggage will be charged at the prevailing rate for carriage of freight.


Since all aircraft used by Mombasa Air are small planes that can only hold 5-13 passengers, there are no seat classifications for the said airline. Generic seating and seat reservation are allowed, and travelers are ensured of their safety before, during, and at the end of the flight. All pilots are adept and able, although currently, all aircraft does not have a cabin attendant to serve passengers.
