Mihin Lanka Cheap Flights & Promo Deals on Skyscanner Philippines

Mihin Lanka was a low-fare aviation company that was based in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Established by the government in 2007 and headquartered in Bandaranaike International Airport, it competed with SriLankan Airlines when it came to being a top service provider to some of the country’s largest routes. This is because they had an extensive network of destinations that included Dubai, Bangkok, Singapore, Male, and India. During that time, SriLankan Airlines was partially owned as well as managed by Emirates, but the government took control of the entity in 2008; along the way, Mihin Lanka suspended operations in 2008, but eventually resumed them in 2009.

After re-launching operations, Mihin Lanka reopened a number of its initial routes and once again went head to head against SriLankan Airlines in a majority of markets. Nevertheless, the former’s strategy started transitioning in the fourth quarter of 2010 after it employed a codeshare partnership with the latter.

Despite Mihin Lanka’s adjustments, it was continuously plagued by debt, financial losses, and internal issues among others. In an effort to reduce losses and at the same time boost productivity, the government approved the merger of the two entities at the end of 2016. In line with this, Mihin Lanka once again ceased operations and SriLankan Airlines took over the routes that were operated by the former.
