Lufthansa CityLine Cheap Flights & Promo Fares

A German regional airline with its headquarters on the premises of Munich Airport, Lufthansa CityLine GmbH is one of the domestic airlines serving various locations in Germany and Europe. It has hubs in Munich Airport and Frankfurt Airport, two major cities for air transport. It was founded first as Ostfriesische Luftazi (OLT) in 1958, before being renamed in 1970 as Ostfriesische Lufttransport (OLT). In 2013, the airline was reorganized to become Luftverkehrsgesellschaft mbH on 1974. Short-range international routes were also catered by the airline in 1978, transporting passengers between nearby countries in the region.

An overhaul of services occurred in 2014 when the CityLine was transferred from Cologne Bonn Airport to Munich. Its parent airline Lufthansa also transported eight of its current Airbus A340-300 aircraft to CityLine to be managed by the airline and then wet-leased back to Lufthansa. More planes are slated for transfer by the Lufthansa Group to cater to the increasing needs of the CityLine, as it continues to serve various destinations across the country and the region.

Why Fly with Lufthansa CityLine

How to Check In

Being a subsidiary of Lufthansa, the CityLine has features similar to those offered by its parent airline. One must confirm any differences, however, to prevent any difficulties while travelling. There are different ways travelers can check in their scheduled flights – online check-ins, mobile check-ins, check-in machines, automated check-ins, and late-night check-ins. For as early as 23 hours before departure, tourists can check in online, select seats, and conveniently print out their online boarding pass or have it sent to their mobile phone. Different rules on check-in deadlines may apply, however, for different departure airports. When using the check-in machines at designated areas, tourists can do so with a Miles & More card, customer card, or credit card. The flight number, destination, or booking reference for the flight must then be entered to process the check-in. The machine-readable ID Card or passport will also be checked, before the transaction will be finalized. Tourists with baggage can check them in, as soon as the process finishes successfully.

Baggage Allowance & Fees

In Lufthansa, there are free baggage assignments available for passengers. Tourists will have to confirm whether the CityLine also offers the same. Lufthansa also has required dimensions for carry-on baggage: 55 x 40 x 23 cm are the usual regulations, while those with foldable garment bags will have a limit of 57 x 54 x 15 cm. Those transporting excess and special baggage will have to incur additional fees, however. Ski baggage can also be handled by the CityLine as part of the free baggage as long as it complies with the regulations. Pets can also be accommodated, depending on the animal's weight and size. One must registered all creatures and items beforehand to reserve enough space. Passengers must also take note on the types of goods classified as dangerous items to prevent difficulties when boarding. Missing or damaged items may also be reimbursed in a case-to-case basis, but it would be better for tourists to have their own liability and insurance prepared for any circumstance.

Classes for service in Lufthansa are first class, business class, premium economy class, and economy class. Tourists should enquire, however, if such classes are all accommodated in the CityLine during the reservations. Asking about the assigned fees will allow one to compare which rates fall within the budget well.
