Jetstar Asia Cheap flights & Promo Fares

Jetstar Asia is a budget airline based in Singapore. Launched in 2004, the airline is one of the Asian branches of Jetstar Airways, a subsidiary of Qantas. Jetstar Asia operates flights to numerous Southeast Asian destinations including destinations in Cambodia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines. The low-cost airline offers flight services to several East Asian routes such as Hong Kong, Japan, and Taiwan as well as act as the main feeder airline for Jetstar Airways flying to Australia.

Jetstar Asia, like its parent company of Jetstar Airways, prides itself on offering low fares, all day, every day. It operates flights to over 25 cities across 12 countries across Asia. Due to its late entry into the Asian market, the airline positioned itself as a budget airline that flies further operating flights within a 5-hour radius from Singapore. Flights to Manila, Philippines began in 2005. Jetstar Asia again distinguished itself from other low-cost airlines by flying to Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Metro Manila instead of the usual budget airline destination of Clark International Airport in Angeles City.

Why Fly Jetstar Asia

Despite being known as a low-cost airline, Jetstar Asia offers reserved seating across all routes and was one of the first airlines to provide customers the option of selecting their seats during booking. Jetstar Asia also has codeshare agreements with airlines such as Emirates, Finnair, SriLankan Airlines and of course, Qantas.

Jetstar is also one of the few budget airlines that are affiliated with an airline partner alliance. In 2011, Jetstar joined the OneWorld alliance allowing OneWorld members booking an itinerary to include Jetstar flights. Be sure to check Jetstar’s official website for more information.

Jetstar Asia only operates one direct flight from Manila. The airline flies direct to Singapore at least once daily and as often as thrice twice a week. However, with other Jetstar subsidiaries, you can book Jetstar flights across Asia and Australia.

Ways to Check-in

Jetstar Asia offers its passengers several ways to check-in. Other than the usual airport counter check-in, eligible flights can check-in online or use airport kiosks. Selected flights and booking conditions can also use of in-town check-ins, airport early check-ins or go straight to the gate.

While most bookings allow for online check-in, do note that there are some exceptions. Passengers traveling with an infant or needing assistance, those traveling to and from the US or on a Jetstar Pacific Airlines (BL) flight and bookings made through Jetstar Group or with an outstanding balance would need to proceed to the airport check-in counters.

Passengers on domestic flights can check-in online from two days up to one hour before departure. Meanwhile, those traveling on international flights can check-in online from two days up to two hours before departure. Please note that you would still need to go to airport check-in counters to present identification before proceeding to the gate.

Baggage Allowances and Fees

Carry-on baggage up to 7 kilograms is free for all Jetstar Asia flights. Business class passengers can have 2 carry-on baggage up to 7 kilograms each. For Jetstar Asia, you can bring as many bags as you need as long as the combined weight does not exceed your purchased baggage allowance. Each bag has a maximum weight limit of 32 kilograms.

It is recommended that checked baggage be pre-booked or purchased during booking or before departure as it is cheapest during this period. Baggage fees can be more expensive when purchased at the airport. Purchasing at the airport will be up to 15 kilograms for a flat fee but any excess will be charged for every additional kilo. For flights departing from the Philippines, baggage fees at the airport will be Php2,200 (US$47) with excess baggage charged at Php650 (US$14) per kilogram.

Seat selection with Jetstar Asia may cost a minimal fee. If you want to make sure to site along the aisle or beside the window, you can choose to do so during booking or before your departure date.
