Why Fly Germanwings

Checking In Guide

Germanwings offers the convenient option of online check-in which can be done starting from 24 hours to 2 hours before your flight departure time. You can print your boarding pass in advance or save it onto your device as a mobile boarding pass. Please note, however, that mobile boarding passes are no longer accepted at US airports. You need to print out your boarding pass or have one printed out at the counter. If you are traveling with checked baggage, do allow plenty of time for bag drop and other security procedures. Online Check-in is not available for passengers traveling with animals, unaccompanied minors and group with more than nine passengers. You can also avail of the Late-night Check-in to check-in your baggage the night before your departure. Fees apply for this option. Self-service check-in kiosks can also be found at many airports.

Seating

Germanwings has a large fleet of over 80 aircrafts including A319-100, Airbus A320-200, and Bombardier aircraft. All of these are configured with a single Economy Class cabin. The seats are standard with a seat pitch of 29-30". If you booked your ticket on Best Fare category, you could choose the seats with more legroom at the front rows for no extra charge.

Baggage Fees

Baggage allowance for Germanwings passengers is also based on their three fare types. Basic Fare only allows for cabin luggage with a maximum weight of 8kg. Checked baggage under Basic Fare will be subject to fees. The Best Fare includes two pieces of baggage weighing 23kg each, while Smart Fare can check in one piece of baggage weighing 23kg for free.

In Flight Service

F&B: Inflight food also depends on the fare class. Basic Fare has no meals onboard, while the other fare classes will have free snacks and beverages. There is a Sky Bistro where passengers can purchase food and drinks on board the flight.

Entertainment: Being a no-frills airline, Germanwings only has the in-flight German and English magazine called GW for their passengers to enjoy on the flight.
