Known as the City of Smiles, Bacolod is the capital city of the province of Negros Occidental. The city is also host to one of the grandest festivals in the Philippines, the MassKara Festival. It is similar to Mardi Gras, incorporating music, dance and colourful costumes to the festivity. The city is also known as a culinary hotspot. While this city is sometimes eclipsed by its more popular neighbors in the Visayas region, Bacolod has a number of attractions that cater to history buffs that include the Fountain of Justice, Mariano Ramos Ancestral Home, Vintage Steam Locomotives and the Vinther Monument. Museum and art galleries are also scattered throughout the city such as the Museum Negrense de La Salle, the Negros Museum, and the Dizon Ramos Museum to name a few. Bacolod is served by the Bacolod-Silay International Airport located in Silay City, just outside the city center of Bacolod. It is mainly connects to Manila and Cebu via flights offered by leading budget airlines Cebu Pacific and AirPhil Express. Philippine Airlines is also offering flights to the city from its main hub, Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
