Jetstar Airways or popularly known as Jetstar is a low cost airline carrier headquartered in Melbourne, Australia. The airline is owned by Qantas Group and was launched in May 2004 to focus on Australia’s value based market. It has now grown to one of the most recognizable low fares carrier in Asia Pacific offering routes across 19 domestic destinations in Australia and 17 short- and long-haul destinations. Jetstar has a fleet of 80 aircrafts based in Australia and New Zealand which makes them the third largest airline in terms of domestic market share.
A year after launching in Australia, Jetstar was launch in New Zealand for trans-Tasman services. The airline now services up to 47 weekly return flights from Australia to Auckland, Christchurch and Queenstown. Almost four years after that, domestic routes was launched in New Zealand with flights between Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin, Wellington and Queenstown.
Jetstar Australia and New Zealand has a fleet of aircrafts including aircrafts from the Airbus A320 family, Airbus A330 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
How to Check In
To save time at the airport, passengers can choose to check in online for a fast and convenient check in process. However, please note that web check in is not available for all passengers. Passengers travelling with infants and those needing special assistance would need to proceed to the check in counters at the airport. Bookings made within 48 hours of departure and those with outstanding balance or booked with travel agents and third-party services would also need to check in personally.
Baggage Allowance & Fees
Business and Business Max passengers are offered complimentary 30kg checked baggage allowance and can purchase up to 10kg extra. Starter Max passengers have free 20kg checked baggage allowance and can purchase up to 20kg more while Economy Starter and Starter Plus passengers would need to purchase checked baggage allowance. Baggage allowance is available at 15kg, 20kg, 25kg, 30kg, 35kg and 40kg options per passenger per flight. To save on baggage fees, the cheapest way to do so is to purchase during the booking process. You can also add on after booking by calling Jetstar’s customer service hotline or online through ‘Manage Booking’ service. However, take note that baggage added after booking will have higher fees.

For Jetstar JQ domestic flights departing from domestic terminals, check in and baggage drop counters open 2 hours and close 30 minutes before departure. Be sure at your assigned boarding gate at least 25 minutes before departure as boarding gates close 15 minutes before the flight departs.
